Travelling to Northern Spain was truly a trip of a lifetime for me! Finally I was visiting the very country that had been on the top of my bucket list for the past 20 years, and what better way to experience the food, culture, wine and history than with G Adventures!

We set out from Barcelona - the famous Catalan heartland that needs at least two pre-nights to do it justice. From the Modernist Architecture to the Gothic Quarter and everything in between, Barcelona will have you mesmerized from the moment you set foot on its soil. Be sure to book Gaudi visits early as these sell out fast!
From Barcelona we headed north to the Aragon region and stayed in a Casa Rural in Pyrenees Mountains. We hiked to ancient hermitages, ate local food prepared by our gracious hosts, and drank wines from the region. It was literally heaven on earth and our hosts were so lovely!
San Sebastian is Spain's best kept Secret!
Further north we headed to Bilbao and San Sebastian, in the famous Basque region for endless pinxos (tapas), txakoli wine, and cider. The Seaside town of San Sebastian is one of Spain's best kept secrets!
From here we went west to get south stopping in Logrono, capital of the famous 'La Rioja' wine region, for a very special tour and tasting at the Franco Espanolas winery where Diego won over our hearts and our palettes!
We finished our journey in Madrid during the Feria del Isidro, which takes place every May. The city was filled with people and celebration. It was a lovely way to say farewell to our group and spectacular guide, Igor. You will need at least one additional night in Mardrid to ensure a well rounded Northern Spain adventure.
